My Time
My Time has 11 songs, some of which are renderings of Nico Wayne Toussaint (Walking down College Street), The Meters (Life Wire), Jimmy Rogers (That’s All Right) and Albert Collins (If you love me like you say). But although one might be sticking one’s neck out, what is really attractive about this disc are Iker Piris’ compositions, authentic blues, gospel and r&b pieces played really well with the help of Paul San Martin on the piano (Stay Blues). We’ve already mentioned I’m Worried, but there are additional outstanding items on this disc. That is the case of the lovely ballad You make me feel so fine (in which Fredi Pelaez collaborates on his Hammond); the rock & roll full of swing of If you are my friend; Baby, I’m sorry could pass as a blues classic; and Mamma, come back home, a gospel piece full of beauty and emotion. The disc ends with J.J. Country, a fun tribute to J. J. Cale.
The disc was recorded at the Pottoko studios under the technical direction of Fredi Pelaez, who also collaborates with the Hammond organ.
The Romanticos have already had the chance to play at the Donostia-San Sebastian Jazzaldia, the blues festival of Getxo, the blues festival of Tolosa, and the jazz festival of Parla (Madrid), and it has accompanied the singer Sheila Cuffy in several concerts.
My Time is the sound of Iker Piris, the first stop on his personal quest.
