Rude, provocative, rebellious, anti-stablishment
Vital, energetic, rebellious, and subversive, qualifiers that
could well define Rock and Roll, beyond a pose or a topic but that actually,
describe and mean this record entitled "Bam Bam”. A record from a band
called King Kong Blues, whose main true flag is attitude, because as is well
known, without attitude there is no Rock and Roll.
The Blues Morning Singers
It is
said that knowing the path is not walking the path, much less when it comes to
such a winding and meandering as the Blues path.
Just one man and his guitar playing the Blues
Guitarist,
singer and composer besides being the
leader of The Romantics. Iker Piris has been accustoming us to
exquisitely executed and produced recordings, plagued by Blues, R´n´ B, and
Funk where not only his virtuosity as a guitarist was already manifested, but
he also made clear a knowledge about all these genres outside of the
common. Restless and indefatigable he
has collaborated with countless artists over the years, becoming one of the
most active musicians of the genre throughout the country. Solo (Alone) recording : A musician´s
trip back to the essence recreating the archetype of a Bluesman.
Whoever wants to listen, just listen
"Solo Album volume II" is a musical chapter written by an
inscrutable mind in constant search. A work full of virtuosity that does not
run away from risk at any time to dismantle and rebuild its own influences
giving new meaning to what it was. Chema Saiz is a unique guitarist, a creator
who invents in each composition a language that vibrates for anyone who
approaches with courage, without prejudices or labels, whoever wants to feel,
just feel.
La Rural Blues Band
Irreproachable sound and performance "Autoblues" is a fun and irreverent
record in equal parts. Blues from there
recreated with the rural iconography from here. The Rural Blues Band is not
just a Blues band. Possibly the only one that recreates through their songs that rogue, ironic and humorous spirit
that has been always present since this music origins.
The same Blues coherence
There
are clear evidences that makes a project something genuine and exclusive, in
StarBlues case, they are those great songs sung in their own language and their
ability to perpetuate a high-quality project under the sieve of the Blues
making it original and identifying. Hitz Gatibuak is his the second album of the group. See the klipa:
The art of improvisation, the unrepeatable
Guitarist, singer and composer, Jaby Sánchez after
participating in countless projects related to Jazz and Blues over the years
and after the edition of his first solo work "Inner Blossom", he has
become one of the most interesting and original musicians of the scene,
permanently exploring the fields of improvisation and traveling through the
currents of the so-called contemporary Jazz from a very personal point of view.
Sánchez's usual collaborator in different projects, flute player Marta Mansilla
has a long Jazz and Flamenco career. The record "Acuarela de paso" , music to be heard without conditions, full of
polychromies and essences difficult to classify.
two referents within the Blues European scene
Surprise comes when that
American Blues musician Will Jacobs is based in Berlin, he is 26 years old, he has been
developing his career since he was 12 years old, he is white, multi-instrumentalist
and if that is not enough he joins with
someone like Marcos Coll. Founder of
the mythical Los Reyes del KO,
collaborator in countless projects in which he has always known how to surround
himself with first class artists, back from his beginnings with Tonky de la
Peña, until arriving at his recent works with the guitarist and singer Stefano
Ronchi. In short, someone who has become over the years in a reference
internationally as a harp player and incombustible musician. Takin´our time is the first recording. This is an NOfficial video.
a reference in the blues piano
Right from his very first work
with the band Stay Blues and his
first solo album "Tracks"
going through "Paul's Moods",
"Single" with the French drummer Romain Gratalon and finally reaching
"A French Session". Paul San Martín is part of that cast of
classical musicians who know the importance of black music in general and the
Blues in particular, dedicating themselves to deepen, investigate and finally
cultivate this musical tradition over the years with an unusual mastery. which
has become an obligatory reference as a pianist and singer throughout the
national scene.
another true jewel
The
merciless sea, a barrelhouse and the salty air, folk music roots, the lost
causes, homesickness of the traveler and two troubadours´ state of grace joined
by a legacy full of pop, psychodelia, country, blues, rock and roll attitude
and reminiscences from 60´s and 70´s, make it posible on Family Folks second
album just to consolidate itself in a privileged place. Not only as a mere
continuation of his acclaimed previous work - All
The Lost Causes- but rather as a new reference in
the scene. Led by Bosco Hill and Rubén Xuarez with Lorre Brothers, Martín and
Jorge on rhythm section. The Anvil
Sea" is fundamentally a record made out of songs with capital letters, sixteen
original songs as the result of the chemistry between the composers.
travelling music and jazz improvisation
On “Pagoda” their very first record together
they gave proved of the originality of their proposal and the uncommon of such
a intrumental combination developing a great collection of songs. Navarre
Accordionist Javier López Jaso and
argentinian double bass player Marcelo Escrich joined by Luis Giménez on guitar and Daniel
Lizarraga on drums lined up as a quartet with the collaboration of Alberto
Arteta on tenor sax. Aporia, the second record, is the result of both author´s
combination and origins. A record full of harmonies and silence most probably
full of experiences
to be danced
“For
Dancers Only” , the last record of The Cherry Boppers, is a record full of
influences, right from Curtis Mayfield, Marvin Gaye or The Jb´s to Grant Green,
Lou Donaldson o Lonnie Smith. A perfectly designed work acccomplished by this
band from Bilbao built up with the accurate groove and wisdom who have mixed
endless afro american influences along the years just to establish a very own style without losing sight. “For
Dancers Only” is a record made from The Cherry Boppers experience with the clear
aim to be danced. Listen : For Dancers Only
Unbreakable
Víctor Aneiros belongs to that kind of musicians with no banner but his own
coherence, perfectly know what´s the next step, no cheats or tricks. Written
entirely in Spanish without forgetting his Galician roots, Aneiros gifts us
on “Un extraño entre la multitud” with a
true day to day experiences
mosaic. An urban universe full of electric guitars and poetry equally. Listen: Mucho Postureo
the third album by The Romanticos
Playing an instrument is easy; the difficult thing is
playing it well. Managing to get sound that identifies you and makes you
recognizable among the multitude of musicians with whom you share instrument,
that is an achievement destined only to a few. If, like in this case, we talk
about a musician who has his feet and soul sunk in a centennial style as is the
Blues, the feat of singularity is even greater. "Good Vibrations", the third album by The
Romanticos is a good example of exercising one's own voice without
forgetting the Style.

The show must go on
The Show must go on by
reverend Jimmy Barnatán´s hand. Music and entertainment, attitude regarless fashion
trends or the merely correct. True to his own iconography shows once again that
there is not show without music but this
time the real show is called “Bourbon
Church”. Listen: Living down the Highway
Rhythm, excitement, sweat and emotion
Time
is gold is a record with a high
production and execution level right from it´s first cut proving creator´s
concept clarity. Black
music, straight, down to the bone in a dim light without a tag but Leandro
& HighRollers own. Listen: I can´t Hold Out
along twenty nine years of musical career
If we had to talk about national blues scene
history to embody hard work, art, musical career along the years putting a proper name to the great Blues
Queens inheritance on this side of the
sea. There would be no doubt, Big Mama
Montse would be the name. If we had to look for a blues record where
the present meets experience, and talent meets good musical taste without
losing Blues perspectives while taking one step beyond “Seed of Love” would be the
title and Big Mama Montse .Band the ones to perform it. Listen : Peace to the World
a collection of great songs recorded and played by a great big band
Malacara
& Wilson Blues Band is the singer and composer from Barcelona Alex Malacara and British guitar player Tony Wilson combination. “Summer Camp Blues” is a collection of great songs recorded
and played by a great big band that draws
from the sources, blues, country and folk music. Songs that talk about losers
and desperate hearts, endless roads that go nowhere and every where. They talk
about dark poetry and names written in a bullet. Malacara & Wilson Band is
much more than the so-called “Americana” although it´s seeds came from the
other side of the world. Listen : Almost Blues
Family Folks
They say lost causes are always the best causes, maybe the only left. Two desperados and the American dream broken promises, engaged into creating music with classical
flavour, a cause done in common
and built out of rock, psicodelia,
blues, pop and country, right from the roots with an Irish tavern accent, a
cause that could have been signed by some clearheaded Grateful Dead or the long time missed The Band
if they had not been signed by these two
guys from Vigo called Family Folks
already. All the lost causes is her first album.
