Gaby Jogeix, French Basque guitarist based in Madrid is a bluesman in a category that Chicago's Alligator label want to sign  fascinated by her visceral vocals, electric rhythms and a steel guitar which refers to the late Jeff Healey. This week is presented in form of a quartet at the Circuit de Bizkaia Jazz Blues (20-Basauri, 22-Leioa, 23-Ermua) and Gasteiz (21)

Blues, groove and dark sounds are the menu thatGaby Jogeix proposed in his concerts. Its powerful percussive style on guitar and lap steel, -coupled with the strength of his arrangements-articulate the show, creating atmospheres and climax unfit of a musician so young. R & B to funk, to return to the 12-bar blues, through authentic "houserock" gospel or boogie: Gaby Jogeix intertwines stunning own songs that allow musicians to show off his versatility. Who said the blues had to be outdated or boring!


It's always been fascinated scholars of slide-guitar from Ry Cooder Elmore James and Hound Dog Taylor up. He is two years practicing lap steel guitar, with special attention to gospel performers, including Campbell Brothers, Aubrey Ghent, Sonny Treadway, the most modern or Robert Randolph, with whom he shares his penchant for pedal wahwah: songs like "Slide it Down "I make it very clear.
