Short Stories

Short Stories

"Short Stories" is exactly that, a collection of seven stories. Seven tributes from their creators to artists and people who have influenced them. Covers from their most admired artists (Kenny Dorham, Wes Montgomery) and his own compositions inspired by their loved ones. Seven songs wrapped in an omnipresent Hammond organ warm lullaby with Brother Jack McDuff tradition, Lou Bennett, or Jimmy Smith echoes. Seven crystalline jazz moments, luminous and genuine, ready to revive and mutate into new and vibrant forms in the intimacy of our listening.

Soul and swing rhythm, cool R&B elegance, endearing warmth from infallible hammond organ. Experience and talent always at the service of the story and the communication with the listener.   Organizing    is the band.

Ennio Pinillos Jazz Quintet

Ennio Pinillos Jazz Quintet

Solipsism is a free topic project conceived within his master’s degree in Musikene (San Sebastian) music school. It was recorded live a year ago with hardly any touch-ups, to maintain the freshness and original spontaneity as a faithful reflection of the magical connection that operates between the band: Satxa Soriazu on piano, Javier Callén on double bass, Miguel Moisés on trombone and Juanma Urriza on drums. Ennio Pinillos is the sax leader of the quintet.

FAMILY FOLKS - Naufrage

FAMILY FOLKS - Naufrage

Once again and with the sea as the key player in a clear allegory to the inevitable death and rebirth process in all orders of life, FAMILY FOLKS the band formed by Bosco Hill on vocals , acoustic and electric guitar, banjo and percussion, Rubén Xuárez  on vocals, electric and acoustic guitar, mandolin, percussion, Xabier Vieitez on keyboards, carillón and backing vocals, Jorge Lorre Bajo, backing vocals , Rufus “El Guarro” on  drums and backing vocals, give birth a record that consolidates a career  traced by  constant evolution, with a more electric and even experimental spirit, where instruments that used to be part of the band's sound  in previous records hand over their leading role and have been replaced by keyboards, electric guitars or even the Theremin, present in some tracks, consolidating a new and interesting sound proposal. Youth, talent, curiosity, work, and a lot of love

Youth, talent, curiosity, work, and a lot of love

Kike Arza Electric 4tet (second project on behalf of bass player/double bass player). A record rigorously developed, and deliciously fresh in its subsequent enjoyment at the same time.

Kike Arza 4tet's music is inspired by all of them without trying to prove them. Kike's compositions thrill with their evocative elegance and with the light of their beautiful melodies, with that cinematic view just like small soundtracks from films that perhaps we watched or thought we believed we did or sometimes dreamed to watch or live in our own flesh. Everything overlaps and gets confused in a single second, in a song, in a lifetime.

Contemporary sound experimentation

Contemporary sound experimentation

Pedagogical session, historical claim, and contemporary sound experimentation at the same time. "Euskal Danbolinaren Aroak" (the stages of the Basque txistu and drum) reflects Joserra Senperena and Piter Ansorena performance at Igartza Palace in Beasain on April 8, 2021. Continuing "Chillida-Lekutik" (from Txillida-Leku live) record released in 2006 achieving a deep and exhaustive investigation that has lasted several months, offering a wonderful opportunity to taste the results with all the attention that its delicate nuances and blends require.

The colorful and enriching diversity on this record reflects the duo´s wisdom and experience, but the most important and perhaps most valuable about what it brings is the ability and talent to radiate that unexplained freshness to the one who listens or plays a melody for the very first time.  It's probably that same wisdom and experience that allows them to weave their dialog with such delicate sensitivity and get excited, making us feel that those old tunes are, once again, totally new to us.

Bilbao-born flamenco cantaor Juanjo Navas

Bilbao-born flamenco cantaor Juanjo Navas

Flamenco universal language knows no borders, nor does it know origins, it understands no other language than its own, so much so that the Bilbao-born cantaor Juanjo Navas has been emerging as one of the most outstanding, restless and original singers on flamenco current scene. In addition to participating in numerous festivals and having performed in very different stages, his career is endorsed by the edition of a first album "Reflejos de Andalucía", where he recreates texts by Bilbao writer Beñat Arginzoiz. Purist and heterodox at the same time, Juanjo Navas happens to be the first singer in history to perform a saeta in Basque, thus providing a new and original vision, a fact that, along with his career, enabled him both to make contact with the Blas de Otero foundation and to make this second album "Digo vivir" where the singer interprets the texts of the poem "Redoble de conciencia" by one of the essential poets of the century XX, Blas de Otero.

Tribute, commitment, and pure sound pleasure

The restless and prolific trumpet player from Bilbao, Juan De Diego, is back with a new project and that is always good news for lovers of the intrepid, elegant, and full of nuances kind of jazz that he always displays. "Grebalariak"(Strikers), has been recorded in a new format never used by Juan until now, an acoustic quartet (piano, bass, drums, and trumpet) is no exception but adds a resting point to his compositions and rhythms allowing us to appreciate in deep detail the delicacy in which the melodies are interwoven in a colorful and beautiful tapestry of sounds. In a be-bop classical record style, built with a vivacity that tastes more, much more, of pure enjoyment in the personal exploration of its infinite possibilities than a mere nostalgic recreation.

"Grebalariak" is based on 10 unpublished compositions by Juan himself and features the contribution from three superb and sought-after artists: pianist from Mallorca Toni Vaquer, double bass player Pere Loewe and drummer Ramón Prats.

Marco Martinez & NOI

NOI comes from jazz, it has some of the most elegant Pat Metheny flavor, growing in every hearing, becoming one with the images it feeds on from the ones that it conjures up and finally sounding just like Marco Martínez or anything else that we wish to imagine and name it by. A world in itself. A record forever.

The best teacher is always the road

The best teacher is always the road

Formed in Bilbao by Mario Gómez (vocals and guitars) Carlos Jover (harmonica and vocals), Jorge Gómez (drums) and Fabian Acarregui (double bass) for ver more than ten years have proven a career based on respect and the coherence right from  their first homonymous record  in 2014, where they faithfully recreated a brilliant collection of Blues standards in rural Blues terms, by then in 2017 releasing their second album "Jump and Shout" where the band rolls from the Chicago Blues, through the West Coast or Jump Blues with the same great care shown on their first record with the added value of being an entirely original song record. Los Blues Morning Singers is the paradigmatic example that the best school is the road traveled and the best teacher is always the road. His last album Winding Road

Rude, provocative, rebellious, anti-stablishment

Rude, provocative, rebellious, anti-stablishment

Rude, provocative, rebellious, anti-stablishment. We could use an infinite number of qualifying terms to define rock and roll beyond a strictly musical point, but without a doubt, if there is a word that defines what is a way of life for many people, 20th century greatest musical exponent, a language that has served as a guide to many other musical trends just to end up putting a soundtrack to entire generations, the word would be attitude. Without attitude there is no Rock and Roll.
