Quartet from Madrid whose style is based on Afro-American music, or in other words, the so-called ‘black’ sounds: jazz, blues, soul, funk, reggae, swing and rhythm and blues, etc, fusing them all together into a new sound, while at the same time leaving space for improvisation.

Throughout their long career, they have played in countless venues and premises all over the Iberian peninsula jazz and blues club circuit, and were even selected within the Jazz category in the Music Circuits of the Youth Institute 2000, by critics such as ‘Cifu’ from Jazz entre Amigos. They have played in the Getxo and Ibiza 2000 International Jazz Festivals, the Béjar City 2001 International Blues Festival, the Manzanares 2001 and Getake 1999 International Theatre Festivals and the Fuenlabrada Blues Festival in 1998, among others.

Jairo Zavala (guitar and vocals) lends his own personal touch to tracks by Gershwing, Elmore James, Muddy Waters, Al Green, BBKing, Albert King, Bob Marley, Grant Green, Toots & the Maytals, Jimmy Hendrix, Freddy King and James Brown, etc.

Antonio ‘Pax’ Alvarez (drums) has been playing jazz, blues and rock for many years now, and once participated in the New York Jazz Festival, on a grant by a popular music school in Madrid. His presence is a guarantee of creativity, improvisation and musical taste.

Javier Vacas (bass player), forms a solid base in the rhythmic section alongside Antonio, contributing firm, creative and effective sounds which lend the double bass an added dimension, in which serving as an accompaniment is just one of the instrument’s myriad of possibilities.

Daniel Madariaga ‘Txarras’ (Hammond organist) has taken the classic style of all-time greats such as Lonnie Smith, Jimmy Smith, John Lord and Lou Bennet and updated it. A specialist in Hammond B3 organs, Tres Hombres has a spot in its repertoire just for him.
TRES HOMBRES forms part of the rock group ‘LA VACAZUL’ which has already brought out three CDs; they have accompanied ‘AMPARANOIA’ on tours around Italy and France and have also recorded a CD with her; they have participated either together or separately in numerous studio and live recordings; and Jairo is the guitarist in the programmes ‘El Club de la Comedia’ and ‘La Noche con Fuentes y Cìa’ on the Canal + and Tele 5 television channels. Javi Vacas and Antonio Pax form the rhythmic base in the first recording by the blues band ‘Los Reyes del K.O.’ (Gaztelupeko Hotsak-2002) and also for ‘Chocolate Blues Express’.

Their premiere album, which is available in digipack format (and will soon be available in vinyl also) is called ‘Our favorite songs’ and contains 11 magnificent versions of the group’s favourite tracks.

Their second album, on which they are currently working, is performed as a sextet and is more dance-oriented. It is called ‘SESIONES 224-226’, and was brought out by Gaztelupeko Hotsak and Cambayá Club de Blues in December 2003, in an unprecedented union between the two most prestigious record labels in Spain. It contains highly personalised remakes of tracks by MC5, Miles Davis, James Brown, Rufus Thomas, Led Zeppelin, Elmore James, ZZ Top, Grant Green and Bob Marley, among others, all in the funk, blues, soul and acid-jazz style combined with Tres Hombres’ unmistakable touch.
