Alex TNT (Alex Alvarez)
Born in Barcelona on June 2, 1978, Alex became interested in music because of the influence of his older brother. By seven Alex had started to sing and play the guitar. Alex started his professional career at seventeen, playing in Barcelona clubs with his own band, The Four Blues. At eighteen, after playing with bands like Harmonica Zummel Blues Band and The Midnight Rockets (with whom he played on the disc “Midnight Jump”), he joined the band of North American blues man, Hook Herrera. With Hook, Alex had a chance to play the best clubs and festivals in Spain and Europe regularly.
In December of 2001, Alex formed his current band – Alex TNT As the band started to play the major clubs in Barcelona, Alex started to gain public and critical acclaim. During this time, Alex recorded two CDs -WALKING YOUR WAY and I FEEL THE BLUES AGAIN. Alex’s latest CD CHANGE MY STYLE, is a work of all originals, which blends the styles of Blues, Funk and Soul. The band live is a powerful experience. One reason for this is the wonderful musicians, Alex has assembled. On drums is JULIAN VAUGHN from St. Louis. Julian has played alongside such legends as Albert King, B.B. King, Johnny “Guitar” Watson, Johnny Copeland, Otis Rush and the Chicago Blues All Stars. On keyboards and vocals is RICK PERKINS, FROM CHICAGO Rick has shared the stage with Al Green, B.B. King and Chaka Khan. JAVIER MAS… the world famous Spanish guitarist/ producer/composer, Holds down the other guitar in the band. Javier acted as producer on Change My Style. STEVE DE SWARDT -BASS From Zimbabwe, Steve is a Barcelona favorite; acknowledged as the Blues and R& B man to have holding down the bottom. Alex has the pleasure to play with Steve, Sunday nights in The Jamboree, the great Blues/Jazz/Funk club in Barcelona’s Plaza Reial.

The “sub of choice” is Carlton Bacon on Bass Carlton is a composer from Denver Colorado. He has played in Chicago, New York, Amsterdam and others. In Spain, Carlton has worked with Orquestra Mandrgon, Steve De Swardt, Monica Green, Hook Herrera, Ce Ce Gianotti and Others.

A recent history of Alex TNT’s musical travels includes: Belgium, Holland, Luxemburg, Portugal, Germany, France, Italy.. The last four years Alex has been working in the United States as well with Sam Cockrell & The Groove, doing shows in the U.S. and Canada. Recently, the band play front act for BB King, at The Minneapolis Orchestra Hall.
Alex has shared the stage with: Hook Herrera, Lynwood Slim, Sam Cockrell, Larry McCray, Paul Orta, Corey Harris, Alvin Youngblood Heart, U.P. Wilson (The Texas Tornado), Mike Wheller, Alex Napier, Johnny B. Gayden and others.

Alex’s musical influences include: B.B. King, Albert King, Johnny “Guitar” Watson. Stevie Ray Vaughan, Stevie Wonder, Prince, The Time, Etta James, Michael Jackson, Sly & The Family Stone. James Brown… and many others!

Alex has demonstrated great maturity and control on the stage- and has a great connection to the public!
